Morgan M - A senior - Prom 2011 decided to wear her
mother's prom gown from when she was in high school. The only
alteration that was needed was to let the zipper out on the back.
There was "just enough" seam allowance to provide this
alteration.

Melissa didn't need a lot of work done to her dress. I took in
sides to at the bodice to take away the opening that was present.
Then I tacked the front of her bodice to prevent it from gapping open
while out and enjoying herself with others.

Melissa H arrived not sure what to do. The dress
looked amazing on her except for the manufacturing flaw in the back of
her dress. There wasn't enough time to send it back.
The dress was being pulled on the side towards the
center. In order to fix the flaw the dress had to be taken apart
in the back and re-aligned before re-sewing correctly in place.
Nothing nicer than seeing the smile of relief when a
client sees the results of her alteration request being fulfilled. |

Danielle called looking for someone who could alter her
gown within a few days. Brought her in the same day so that work
could begin.
The front fit her quite well, but the gown was still a
bit loose in the back so it was decided to take it in at the zipper, as
it did not affect the sides of her gown.
Then, to accommodate the needed length, both dress
layers were shorten. Within a day her alteration work was
completed and ready for her to leave with her family for the wedding.

Junior Bridesmaid Aug 2011
Jennifer arrived full of excitement to be a Junior
Bridesmaid! The dress seemed long to her mom, but after consulting
with the bride, it was decided to leave the hem length as
is.
To fit Jennifer, I needed to take the sides in, one
being an invisible zipper, and adjust the bodice by taking it in
slightly and moving the straps in. In an effort to preserve
the dress for the potential of being able to wear again in the future,
seam allowances were maintained.

The dress was a size 18 being tailored for a much smaller young
person. In doing so, I had to move the straps in, adjust the sides at
the bodice and waist, plus.... |
....raised the hem 5 inches
|
...and adjusted back at straps & provided a back side modesty panel
to prevent the back from hanging too low.
|
A young Katylynn who looks amazing in a dress that looks
like it was made specifically for her!! Can you beat that smile?.
|
 |
|
The shoulders were too high with large arm holes. In order to fit,
the chiffon collar and sleeves had to be removed so that I could raise the
shoulder seams, then replace the altered collar and sleeves.

shoulders, then reapply the sleeves and collar

Bridesmaid Dress that was taken in at the sides of the bodice for a more snug, yet comfortable fit. Also, the dress was three layers, where only 2 of the three layers needed to be hemmed to the desired length required. Fabric was a polyester Charmeuse and Chiffon overlay

August 2009 - Mother of the Bride
This golden tiered dress needed the hem, lining & tulle layers shortened.
In addition, since the dress would not hang
properly on the hanger, the hanger strap was repaired for her.
|
Revital - Aug 2009 - Bridesmaid Dress
Revital needed her dress taken in to provide a nice snug fit. I needed to take the dress in on the sides to keep the front & back of the dress in proper proportion, as well as not to change how the pleats fell with this dress style. In addition, I had to work with pockets that had a hidden inset.
Revital was pleased with how well it fit after returning. A beautiful dress and a beautiful fit!

Two layered dress with chiffon as the outer layer. Dress needed both layers hemmed. |
Prom Alteration - May 2009 - Amy C
Amy needed her double-line gown hemmed 3 inches in the front as well as requested having the train removed from the back. In addition, the zipper was creating some problems on the side that needed to be fixed along with a loose snap.
The hem does look a little long, because Amy forgot her shoes, taking that into consideration, she and her mom were comfortable with the length.

April 2009 - Mandy - Bridesmaid Dress
Mandy needed this dress altered at the hemline, where there was three layers (attached slip, main dress with a chiffon overlay) Also the neckline needed to be shortened as well as have a metal loop placed in the back of the dress.
In order to save Mandy some labor costs, we were able to alter the halter neckline with hooks on the end and a snap on the inside.
